For Carmel Beach, take Highway 1 south from Monterey to Ocean Avenue. Follow Ocean west to Junipero Street. Then go south on Junipero to 8th Avenue. Finally go west on 8th Avenue amd onto Scenic Avenue.

For Carmel River State Beach from southbound Highway 1 in Carmel, the park is one mile south of Ocean Avenue. Turn right on Rio Road, then turn left on to Santa Lucia, then left on Carmelo. Parking lot is located at the end of Carmelo.
