Doheny Beach Camping

Campsites at Doheny State Beach are at beach level, with premium sites facing the ocean. During very high tides waves can flood some of those campsites. The nearby railroad track is active. Length of the parking spaces vary, so it is best to check ReserveCalifornia's website before choosing your site if RV length is a concern. Most campsites are appropriate for tents or RVs, but a few are limited to RVs or trailers only.

There are no hook-ups at any of the sites. Hot showers at the restrooms take quarters. 50 cents will give you a reasonable length shower. Doheny State Beach has a reputation for clean restrooms. Dogs are allowed in the campground if on leash and attended, but they are not permitted on the beach. Convenience stores and fast-food restaurants are nearby.

Ocean Safety

California State Parks and Recreation cautions that "large surf, cold water temperatures, backwash, sudden drop-offs, pounding shorebreak, and dangerous rip currents can turn what seem like safe activities such as playing near the surf line, wading, or climbing on rock outcroppings, deadly."
