Suggestions and Comments from Previous Campers at Carpinteria

  1. Bring quarters for the showers.
  2. Walk into town to Renaldo's Mexican Bakery (on Linden) for a huge breakfast burrito.
  3. Beach Front sites aren't that much better than other sites. All are close to the beach.
  4. Find good food in town at Rusty's Pizza.
  5. Trains don't pass too often at night.
  6. Reserve 6 months in advance because sites fill up quickly for the summer months.
  7. Put food away before nightfall to avoid raccoons.

Ocean Safety

California State Parks and Recreation cautions that "large surf, cold water temperatures, backwash, sudden drop-offs, pounding shorebreak, and dangerous rip currents can turn what seem like safe activities such as playing near the surf line, wading, or climbing on rock outcroppings, deadly."
