Coronado Beach Visitors

Silver Strand State Beach

Silver Strand State Beach Campground can accommodate trailers or RVs up to 40 feet at many of its campsites, although some sites are designated for 30 or 35-foot vehicles. Per Coastal Commission regulations, campers must be in fully self-contained vehicles. No tents are permitted. The maximum number of people allowed at each site is 8. Campsites are arranged in diagonal parking lot style in 4 rows. The front row is designated as premium sites.

Campsites have water and electric hook-ups. Restrooms with outdoor showers are nearby. Gates to the campground are locked at night. Gates open at 8 AM. Check with the attendant for the closing times as they vary according to the season.

Dos Picos County Park Camping

Camping can be found inland at Dos Picos County Park, 46 miles northeast of San Diego. Dos Picos is surrounded by ranchland and steep rocky slopes, which help preserve its secluded atmosphere. The campground has 57 partial hook-ups for RVs and trailers, 11 tent sites and a youth group area for up to 25 people.

Standard sites are limited to 3 vehicles and all wheels must stay on pavement. Among the popular amenities at the campground are token-operated hot showers, a camp store, a fast food restaurant (Bull Taco), campfire programs in the summer, and a good number of sites with hook-ups.
