Overnight Camping at
Harbor Beach
Two parking lots at Harbor Beach allow overnight camping for RVs. No tents are allowed. Camping is only allowed from September 16 through May 25 at lots 11A, 11B, and 12.
No reservations can be made. Camping is first-come, first-served. There is a 5-day limit during any 30-day period. From a ticket machine at the lots, pay for overnight camping, currently $20. However, overnight rates end at 4:00 AM. Unless you are leaving early, also purchase a day use ticket for the following day, $8. Ticket machines do not take 20-dollar-bills, so bring the appropriate cash or use a credit or debt card.
In Lot 12 the RV size limit is 26 feet. Pop-outs, slide-outs, and awnings are not allowed except at a couple of spots by the sand that do not infringe on other camping sites. BBQs or stoves are not permitted in the parking lot area, but fires are allowed in the provided fire rings on the beach. No portable fire pits are permitted.

South Carlsbad State Beach Camping
The campsites in South Carlsbad State Beach are located along the bluff overlooking the ocean. The entrance to the campground is at Poinsettia Lane and Carlsbad Boulevard. Sites are arranged in parking lot style, with a row of bushes separating many of the sites. Sites in the ocean-front row are designated as Premium ($50), while the back row offers Standard Sites ($35). Hook-up sites have recently been added, including some dual hook-up sites.
The campground is divided in half, with sites 1 - 130 north of the entrance kiosk and the rest to the south. A seasonal camp store (April - October) sells firewood, ice, and basic supplies. Laundry facilities are available there. During the summer campfire programs are held at the campfire circle near the store.
Access to the beach is via a number of convenient stairways or a ramp near the south end of the campground (between sites #179 and #180). Restrooms with token operated showers are situated all along the campground.
